Abstract

This research is to study the style of moral leadership among high performing school principals of MARA Junior Science Colleges (MARA) and Boarding Schools (SBP). In particular, the objectives of this study are to identify the effectiveness of the practice of moral leadership style in both types of schools and identify whether there is a significant correlation between principal moral leadership and teachers' job satisfaction by types of school. To collect data, questionnaires were distributed to 120 teachers from two MARA Junior Science Colleges and two boarding schools. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 16. The descriptive statistical methods, such as mean and standard deviation, were used to identify the effectiveness of moral leadership principals. Meanwhile, the statistical inference method, Mann-Whitney U Test, was used to identify the differences regarding moral leadership of school principals based on gender. Pearson Correlation was used to identify whether there is a significant correlation between the moral leadership of principals and teachers' job satisfaction by type of school. The findings showed that the effectiveness of moral leadership for high performing school principals, especially MARA female principals, is moderate when the mean score was 3.56. Furthermore, the results of Pearson Correlation showed that there was a high correlation between moral leadership of principals with teachers' job satisfaction when the p score was 0.000 and r = 0.62. The implication indicates the importance of professional development programs for school leaders to practice moral leadership styles to achieve the goals of the school.
