Türkiye’s official recognition of Israel in 1949 marked the beginning of a complex bilateral relationship, shaped by the legacy of secularism introduced by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Türkiye’s strategic alignment with the Western bloc during the Cold War era. Adopting a retrospective approach, the study examines how the legacy of the 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement and broader imperial strategies that dismantled Islamic political institutions influenced Türkiye’s foreign policy narrative, particularly in relation to the Palestinian issue. Using historical and political analysis, this article traces patterns of diplomatic, military, and economic cooperation between the two nations, as well as the tensions arising from the protracted Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The findings reveal that although Türkiye–Israel relations have developed within a framework of pragmatic cooperation, they remain deeply affected by historical memory, domestic pressures, and Türkiye’s aspirations to restore regional Islamic solidarity. This study makes a significant contribution to understanding the dynamics of Türkiye’s foreign policy and its position within the postmodern geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://jupidi.um.edu.my/index.php/JUD/article/view/58756 Melestarikan Islam di Alam Melayu Menerusi Pengajian Ilmu Kalam Berdasarkan Perspektif Ibn Khaldun 2025-06-27T14:42:24+08:00 Norafifah Ab Hamid norafifah@uitm.edu.my Mohd Fauzi Hamat mfhamat@um.edu.my Azmil Zainal Abidin hadiqah_irfan@um.edu.my Mariam Abdul Rahman mariam.rahman@unissa.edu.bn
Ilm al-kalam that uses the arguments of reason in convicting the principles of the creed of faith and refute ideologies doubt be viewed as a discipline that can make a significant contribution in preserving Islam in the Malay world, especially at a time when the Muslim community currently inhabiting the region had faced with various challenges of thought and ideology that challenged their beliefs based on the Sunni school of thought. Therefore, the study of ilm al-kalam have highlighted that it is clearly understood by approaches that are relevant in the context of Islam in the Malay community now. This article attempts to examine the concept of ilm al-kalam according to Ibn Khaldun, based on the work of his magnum opus, the Prolegomena and examine the relevance of his thinking about ilm al-kalam now in order to preserve Islam in the Malay world. This study is qualitative by using data collection methods by documentation and data analysis methods by content analysis using deductive and inductive approaches. Among the issues that will be analyzed is the importance of using the aqliyya or rational approach to achieve ma`rifatullah which is the basis of perfection of every Muslim in terms of thinking and the extent to which this approach can be the basis to fortify them from being influenced by ideologies that deviate from Sunni school of thought. This article concludes that an approach that combines the argument of reason with revelation is able to produce ma`rifatullah based on convincing argument and this approach is able to refute the doctrines that deviate from the Sunni based on the school of Asharites. In addition, the study of ilm al-kalam should also emphasize the practical aspect, which is the aspect of appreciation that focuses on the aspect of compliance with the sharia in human life. When this is achieved, then it is definitely going to be able to preserve Islam in the Malay world over the centuries. Several suggestions will also be put forward to strengthen the study of ilm al-kalam in accordance with the current challenges faced by Muslims today.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://jupidi.um.edu.my/index.php/JUD/article/view/61619 Aplikasi Biopsikososial-Spiritual untuk Bekas Penagih Dadah bagi Mengelakkan Relapse: Perbincangan Kumpulan Fokus 2025-05-29T17:21:12+08:00 Che Zarrina Sa`ari zarrina@um.edu.my Sharifah Basirah Syed Muhsin basirah@um.edu.my Mohd Syukri Zainal Abidin syukri1990@um.edu.my Rusdi Abd Rashid rusdi@um.edu.my Hasimah Chik hasimahchik@gmail.com Hajah Masuriyati Haji Yahya masuriyati.hyahya@unissa.edu.bn
Drug addiction is a global issue that continues to have significant impacts on individuals, families, and communities. One of the main challenges in the recovery process is the risk of relapse, which refers to the recurrence of addictive behaviour. This article discusses the application of the biopsychosocial-spiritual approach from an Islamic perspective as a holistic effort to help former drug addicts prevent relapse. This study employs a qualitative method through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving nine experts from various fields, including Sufism, Islamic Psychotherapy, Islamic Psychology, psychiatry, drug rehabilitation, as well as social and community work. The findings were analysed using thematic analysis, resulting in several key themes based on four components: biological or physical, psychological, social, and spiritual. Essential elements such as medical treatment (e.g., Methadone), psychospiritual therapy, reinforcement of religious values, social skills, and community support were identified as core components in the development of an intervention module. This study recommends that the Islamic Psychospiritual approach be used as the foundation for a comprehensive and practical rehabilitation module to strengthen self-resilience and reduce the risk of relapse among former drug addicts.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://jupidi.um.edu.my/index.php/JUD/article/view/60981 Etika Penggunaan Prompt Kecerdasan Buatan (AI) dalam Memelihara Kesahihan Pegangan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah dalam Akidah, Fikah dan Tasawuf 2025-06-05T11:28:39+08:00 Manar Muhammad manarmuhammad95@gmail.com Muhammad Zaki Sapuan a197588@siswa.ukm.edu.my Muhammad Haziq Jani ismhaziq@ntu.edu.sg
The rising utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday life, including within Islamic religious discourse, has raised concerns regarding the potential dissemination of deviant ideologies through unfiltered AI generated responses. In response to this issue, the present study aims to examine the necessity of employing ethically framed prompts in AI systems to enhance the awareness of Muslim users, particularly in preserving the doctrinal integrity of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah (ASWJ) school of thought in the domains of ʿaqidah (theology), fiqh (jurisprudence), and tasawwuf (spirituality). This qualitative study adopts a content analysis approach, examining ChatGPT’s responses to a range of prompt designs, some of which explicitly articulate the theological and legal frameworks of Islam, while others remain general. The data are analysed comparatively with reference to authoritative ASWJ sources and current literature on AI ethics. The findings indicate that ambiguous or unspecific prompts may result in the integration of ideological elements that deviate from ASWJ orthodoxy. Conversely, precise and contextually guided prompts tend to produce responses that are more consistent with theologically sound. The study introduces the concept of the ‘Ethical Islamic Prompt’ as a foundational framework for guiding Muslim engagement with AI systems. The implications of this study contribute to the early development of Islamic AI literacy and offer a basis for formulating ethical AI usage policies within religious authorities and Islamic educational institutions.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://jupidi.um.edu.my/index.php/JUD/article/view/52490 Amalan Pembelajaran Hifz al-Quran Pelajar Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama di Malaysia 2024-09-25T15:38:21+08:00 Siti Khadizah Kaimin skdz_diez82@yahoo.com.my Ahmad Yussuf amdysf@um.edu.my Mohd Yakub & Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff zulkifliy@um.edu.my
The objective of my research is to study and explore student practice Hifz al-Quran to learn Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) at National Religious Secondary School in Malaysia. The learning practice of Hifz al-Quran of TMUA students was studied from four aspects such as beginning of learning, during learning, closing learning and use learning materials. 350 students form 4 high school from the Nasional Religion under the Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) program were involved. The survey design benefit quantitative approach that use a descriptive method. Referring to the previous studies and content verified by the experts, the questionnaire instrument was created by author. The quantitative data from the questionnaire had been analyzed by descriptively using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 28 to receive repetition, percentage, minutes and standard deviation. As a result of the research that the learning practices of TMUA students from the beginning aspects of learning and during learning is a high level, whereas the closing of learning carry out 89.7 percent (314), min 4.41 is a very high level. However, the aspects of learning method is in min 2.52 which is at lower level. The reason use of laptop, LCD Smart phone, al-Quran CD and audio al-Quran is smaller amount in practice learning Hifz al-Quran. The theological perspective in Aqidah al-Najin asserts that matters (jirim) inherently occupies space, distinguishing creation from the Creator (al-Khaliq) that transcends spatial limitations. In contrast, physics has evolved from Newtonian mechanics, which defines space as an absolute framework, to Einstein’s relativity, where space is dynamic and influenced by mass and energy. Quantum mechanics further challenges classical views by proposing that space may have discrete properties at microscopic scales. Using a qualitative and comparative approach, this study conceptually examines the similarities and differences between these perspectives, highlighting their epistemological foundations, methodologies, and implications for understanding existence and reality. The findings reveal that while Islamic theology and modern physics approach space from different paradigms one rooted in metaphysical principles and the other in empirical observation both acknowledge space as a fundamental aspect of reality. This study contributes to the broader discourse on the relationship between science and religion, offering insights into how theological and scientific frameworks can coexist and enrich each other in understanding the nature of space and existence.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://jupidi.um.edu.my/index.php/JUD/article/view/48842 Meaning Term 'Qasam' in Tafsir al-Azhar Book’s: Analytical Study of Hamka's Interpretation in Surah al-Fajr 1-4 2024-10-27T09:22:24+08:00 Fajriyaturrohmah fajrif154@gmail.com Muhammad Alfreda Daib Insan Labib bealfreda9@gmail.com
This article discusses meaning term qasam in Tafsir al-Azhar of surah al-Fajr verses 1-4. Most people must be familiar with terms such as homosexual, transsexual, and bisexual, but these are not the only sexual orientations that are produced by modernity in this world. There are as many as sixteen types that exist in the world. However, insufficient discourse and attention have been given by the government, social actors, and Islamic scholars in identifying the menace, and its escalation is worrisome. Therefore, this article examines the impact of homosexuality on Islamic beliefs, values, and culture, employing a qualitative method that combines historical, documentary, and analytical approaches. The findings reveal that homosexuality as a product of modernity has an impact on the Islamic belief systems, social values of Islam, and cultures. The article further systematically pin pointed the strategies deployed by the modernists in inculcating these notorious and illicit acts in the minds of the Muslim youth in the disguise of colonialism, neo-colonialism, and secularism. This article, therefore, recommends that the marriage institution should be preserved from the Islamic perspective for the obliteration of these illicit modern sexualities, with a particular focus on homosexuality.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://jupidi.um.edu.my/index.php/JUD/article/view/61846 The Impact of Belief in the Hereafter on Muslim Moral and Ethical Conduct 2025-06-06T18:54:10+08:00 Manswab Mahsen Abdulrahman manswab@iuiu.ac.ug
Belief in the afterlife constitutes a fundamental pillar of Islamic faith, profoundly influencing both the devotional practices and moral conduct of Muslims. This study examines how this belief shapes Muslim behavior guiding acts of worship and fostering virtues such as honesty, justice, and compassion. Despite Islam’s emphatic teachings on the hereafter, many Muslims exhibit behaviors incongruent with this belief, such as neglect of worship, ethical lapses, and excessive worldly preoccupations. Consequently, the study’s central research question emerges: What are the most significant manifestations of afterlife belief in a Muslim’s daily life? The study employs a descriptive-analytical approach, examining Quranic texts and Hadith to elucidate concepts related to the afterlife. It also analyzes contemporary Muslim behavior through this lens. The deductive method derives behavioral and moral principles from religious texts, while the inductive method evaluates real-world examples of conduct influenced (or uninfluenced) by this belief. The findings affirm that genuine belief in the afterlife serves as a powerful motivator for religious and ethical adherence. When internalized, it fosters a cohesive Muslim society striving for holistic success—balancing temporal well-being with eternal salvation.
2025-06-30T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2025
