INTEGRITI KEWANGAN DALAM KALANGAN GURU SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN ZON BANGSAR, KUALA LUMPUR

Abstract

Financial integrity has become a major concern in efforts to drive Malaysia to be a developed country. This can be evident through steps taken by the government to strengthen the integrity of public officials in driving the principle of integrity and accountability towards an excellent public delivery system. Hence, this study aims to identify the level of financial integrity among the national school teachers of the Bangsar zone, Kuala Lumpur. The study applied quantitative research method through survey. Questionnaires were distributed to the sample of 322 teachers from national schools of the Bangsar zone, Kuala Lumpur The data obtained then been analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) version 21 by applying descriptive and inferential statistics such as Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis H test. The findings show high level of financial integrity among the national school teachers of the Bangsar zone, Kuala Lumpur with the mean of 4.69. In addition, the findings show that there are no significant statistical differences in the practices of financial integrity among teachers based on the aspects of gender (Z = -1.875, p = 0.061) and the period of teaching experiences [x^2 (5,N=322)= 2.601, p = 0.761]. However, significant statistical difference has been noted based on different level of education [x^2 (2,N=322) = 7.733, p = 0.021]. This study can be used as a reference for teachers, school administrators and Ministry of Education to identify the level of financial integrity among teachers. In addition, this study can become a guidance in the implementation of relevant programmes and development trainings required by teachers to enhance integrity among them.
