About Journal

The Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies (RIS) is a blind, peer-reviewed, and entirely open-access online journal published two times a year (June and December) beginning in 2022 by the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Previously, the publication frequency was three times per year. RIS welcomes manuscript submissions that cover multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary studies associated with Islamic studies, including but not limited to scientific research, technological advancements, historical analysis, geographical studies, philosophical inquiries, legal perspectives, literary analysis and interpretation, psychology investigations into language acquisition and usage, educational practices in Islamic societies, environmental concerns impacting Muslim communities, sociological studies on religious practices, ethical considerations associated with Islam, and comparative analyses between different cultures or religions. RIS encourages the submission of articles in various languages, including English, Malay, and Arabic.

Starting from January 28, 2025, the Online Journal Research in Islamic Studies (RIS) has updated its International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) and e-ISSN. The new ISSN and e-ISSN are as follows: ISSN: 3083-9270 and e-ISSN: 3083-9262. The previous e-ISSN, which was used in CD-ROM format, was 2289-6821.

The Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies (RIS) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal published twice a year by the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. RIS covers a wide range of interdisciplinary topics in Islamic studies, including scientific research, technological advancements, historical and geographical studies, philosophical inquiries, legal perspectives, educational practices, environmental concerns, sociological studies, and ethical issues related to Islam. Prior to 2022, the journal was published three times a year.

The Volume 2 No. 2 of RIS was available online from 31 August 2015. This issue has been available online for 5 accepted papers. All articles in this issue were authored by 18 authors from 2 countries i.e.: Malaysia, and United Kingdom.
