Abstract

The Inclusive Education Program has long been implemented in Malaysia but there are studies that show that the constraints experienced by teachers when implementing inclusive teaching in the classroom. Past studies have also illustrated that most teachers are less prepared to implement inclusive education in schools. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of examining the level of readiness of mainstream teachers and the effectiveness of the Inclusive Education Program in Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Ampang. This study will be conducted in the form of a quantitative study. Questionnaires were drafted and distributed to respondents at random. A total of 35 respondents were involved in pilot tests in other districts to determine the reliability of the questionnaire. After that, a total of 150 respondents answered the questionnaire and the findings were analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Based on the findings of the study, the overall mean value of the readiness of mainstream teachers is at a high level of 4.10 (SP = 0.703). Accordingly, the overall mean value of the effectiveness of the Inclusive Education Program is also at a high level of 4.13 (SP = 0.702). Furthermore, a correlation value of 0.928 has illustrated that there is a very strong relationship between the readiness of mainstream teachers and the effectiveness of the Inclusive Education Program. This explains that the level of readiness of mainstream teachers will influence the effectiveness of the Inclusive Education Program. Through ANOVA test, it is evident that there is significant difference between the readiness of mainstream teachers and the effectiveness of the Inclusive Education Program with significant values equal to 0.010 and 0.030 separately.
