Abstract

Residential dormitory buildings accommodating diverse occupants often face fire risks. Furthermore, the annual report of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) indicates fire incident cases in dormitories are at the alarming level. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact fire safety management towards fire safety compliance in dormitories of public universities in the Northern Zone of Malaysia. Quantitative data was collected through a survey administered to 150 respondents, comprising university dormitory management officers. Descriptive analysis was conducted using SPSS software, while inferential analysis utilized Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The study results reveal a significant positive effect of fire safety management on fire safety compliance. The results confirmed that the management play vital roles in enhancing fire safety compliance and preventing fires in higher educational institutions' dormitories.
